Part-time 8-12 hours/week
The Director of Children’s Ministry is a part time position, and shall be responsible for the oversight of children’s programs [3-year-olds through sixth grade]. This follower of Jesus Christ will be visionary, possess keen leadership and relational skills, be a team player, and have a passion for Christ, children and their families. This passion will communicate directly and indirectly to Calvary members and guests the great value that Calvary Church places on ministry to children and their families. The primary role will be to recruit, train, and develop leaders who will intentionally help to produce committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES [Other duties may be assigned]
Responsible for the recruiting training and development of adult leaders who have a passion for shepherding and discipline children. These adult leaders will comprise the Children’s Ministry Team.Shall be a key leader of the “Children’s Ministry Task Force,” responsible to help provide direction, spiritual oversight, vision, strategic development, and coaching for the Children’s Ministry Team members.Provide “hands-on” ministry modeling for adult leaders.Serve as a liaison with Pastoral Staff and other Ministry leaders to ensure that children are integrated into all church ministries as much as possible.Prepare and conduct ministry worker training on a periodic basis.
Have direct oversight for the following key areas of Children’s Ministry: Children’s education program on Sunday mornings, Summer outreach programs [Wild Wednesdays], VBS or 5 Day Clubs, and special events [Easter and Christmas].Oversee leadership selection and training process, maintaining a high standard of excellence in those chosen for leadership. Ensure background checks performed on all Children’s Ministry staff.Responsible to work with Children’s Ministry participants as well as the Children’s Ministry Task Force in the development of a unified strategic plan that includes the following areas: clearly defined values, a mission statement, leadership development, evangelism, disciple-making, worship, systematic Bible teaching, personal accountability and ongoing evaluation.Oversee the development and daily implementation of the Children’s Ministry budget.Oversee the development of any Children’s Ministry choir.
Prepare and send follow-up postcard or letter of welcome to new families weekly.Plan, organize and execute outreach activities to children and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree [B.A.] or equivalent from accredited college or technical school; or commensurate experience. Applicant may be in process of working toward a degree.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups. Able to teach children.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems efficiently and effectively while maintaining good working relationships.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. the employe must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The most important relationship of the Children’s Ministry Director of Calvary Church is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.The Children’s Ministry Director of Calvary Church will be accountable to the Lead Pastor of Calvary Church on a daily basis, and ultimately accountable to the congregation of Calvary Church through the Elder Board.
The salary for this position starts at $800/month with some minor adjustments possible.One month and 4 Sundays off each year.
